Junior National Team beats the record again in the 4x50 freestyle

The Junior National Team beat again, this Saturday, the national record 4x50 freestyle in the age range 16-17, in the session of the finals of the 33rd  Porto Wos International Meeting, that is taking place at the Swimming Complex of Campanhã.

The Portuguese quartet, formed by Ana Rita Faria, Raquel Gomes Pereira, Inês Henriques e Beatriz Viegas, accomplished the distance in 1.48,67, overcoming the maximum of 1.49,47 that was reached in the preliminary session.

 Ana Kolarova (VSC) established a new meeting record in the 100 freestyle with the time of 55,88, overcoming the previous maximum of 56,45 that belonged to the Chinese Shan Ying since the edition of 1994, while the Brazilian Nelson Silva Júnior (Benfica) obtained a new meeting record in the 50 backstroke with 25,97, above the 26,27 that was reached in the morniung.

In the end of the first day of the competition, the Scottland National Team leads with 355,50 points, followed by the Junior National Team with 348,50 points and the West Switzerland Regional Team with 340,50 points.

In the super-sprint, Martina Moravcikova (VSC) in the 50 breaststroke, Diogo Carvalho (Galitos/Bresimar) in the 50 butterfly, Ana Sofia Leite (Ginásio Vila Real)  in the 50 backstroke  and Manuel Leuthard (Region RZW) in the 50 freestyle.

This Sunday preliminary heats begin at 09.00 a.m. and finals at 4.30 p.m..

The 33rd Porto Wos International  Meeting is organized by Associação de Natação do Norte de Portugal and World of Sports, with the support of Porto Lazer, FC Porto and Junta de Freguesia de Campanhã.
