
Giovanna Vargas guaranteed, this Sunday, the minimum time for the Junior European Championship in the 200 butterfly during the 33rd Porto Wos International Meeting, that took palce at the Swimming Complex of Campanhã.
The swimmer of Náutico da Marinha Grande accomplished the distance in 2.16,98, under the reference minimum of 2.17,07, joining the Portuguese that will be present at Netanya (Israel).
The day was marked by the new national junior record 16-17 in the relay of 4x50 freestyle by the National Team, formed by Inês Rocha, Raquel Gomes Pereira, Beatriz Viegas and Ana Rita Faria with 2.00,12, overcoming the previous maximum of 2.00,50 that belonged to Madalena Azevedo, Cláudia Borges, Inês Henriques and Ana Rita Faria since the Porto Meeting of 2016.
Anna Kolarova (Vodni Sporty Club) with 808 points in the 100 freestyle (55,88) and Diogo Carvalho (Galitos/Bresimar) with 817 points in the 200 medley (2.01,92) were the swimmers with the best performances.
Scottland National Team won the competition in team adding 729,50 points, followed by Switzerland West Central Regional Team with 699,50 points and the Junior National Team with 694,50 points.
In the super-sprint, Diogo Carvalho (GalitosBresimar) won the 50 breaststroke, Ana Catarina Monteiro (Fluvial Vilacondense) the 50 butterfly, Thierry Bollin (Region RZW) the 50 backstroke) and Ana Rita Faria (Junior National Team) the 50 freestyle.
The 33rd Porto Wos International Meeting was organized by Associação de Natação do Norte de Portugal and World of Sports, with the support of Porto Lazer, FC Porto and Junta de Freguesia de Campanhã.
