Tamila Holub sets a new record in the 800m freestyle

Tamila Holub (Portugal) set a new youth national record in the 800m freestyle during the afternoon session of 31. º Meeting Internacional do Porto, which was held at the Campanhã Municipal Pool, with Brazil winning collectively.

The Portuguese National Team swimmer posted a mark of 8.51,26 and confirmed the minimum for European Youth, "spraying" the previous maximum of 8.57,00 which was in its possession since last week.

The young athletes of Sporting Braga is now very near absolute national record of 8:49.86 which belongs to Florbela Machado. On the eve, Tamila Holub hit the youth national maximum of the 400m free with 4.20,78.

Zavadova Barbora (Czech Rep.) set a new record in the 200m medley  (2.16,09) - on the first day of competition set a record with 4.44,21 in the 400m medley- while Brazilian Matheus Santana and Etienne Medeiros established new Meeting Records in 100m freestyle (49.94) and 50m backstroke (28.68), respectively.

Barbora Zavadova with 842 points in the 400m medley (4.44,21), and Matheus Santana, with 828 points in the 100m freestyle (49.94) were swimmers with best performance in competition.

The Brazil collectively won with 217 points, followed by FC Porto to 163 and the Czech Republic with 117.

Maillot Melvin (Olympique Courbevoie) in the 50m breaststroke, Jessica Cavalheiro (Brazil) in the 50m freestyle, Nuno Quintanilla (Portugal) in the 50m butterfly and Etienne Medeiros (Brazil) in the 50m backstroke won the super sprint.

Throughout the two competition were established two new youth national records and four hit records of the meeting.

The 31. º Meeting Internacional do Porto was the last race for obtaining minimum for the European Championships for Juniors and Absolutes and the Youth Olympic Games.
