
The Ticinese Federation (Switzerland) won in team, this Sunday, the VIII Póvoa de Varzim International Meeting, that started on Saturday at the city swimming pool.
The Swiss reached 801 points, followed by FC Porto with 593 points and Centro Gallego T. Deportiva with 475 points.
Nelson Silva Júnior (Brazil) with 766 points in the 50 backstroke (26,27) and Paula Garcia (Centro Gallego T. Deportiva) with 727 points in the 400 freestyle (4.25,06) were the swimmers with the best performance.
The Swiss Noé Ponti and Rebecca Peto with six gold medals and five gold and one silver, respectively, were the best placed athletes. The best placed Portuguese swimmers were Inês Rocha (Aquático Pacense) with two gold medals, one silver and one bronze and Simão de Capitão (Colégio de Lamas) with two gold.
In this competition participate 447 athletes (236 male e 211 female) representing 47 teams.
The event was organized by Associação de Natação do Norte de Portugal, in partnership with the local city hall and Varzim Lazer.
